with Bob Pawlak, Bay City Schools, to lead an interactive workshop based on Theodore Roethke. They will share a variety of reading and writing ideas and activities.

Professor, will lead a poetry writing workshop based on the work of the late NYC poet and teacher, Kenneth Koch. Larry will also read from his own work and sign copies of his book, I Would Stay Forever If I Could and Other Poems (Mayapple Press) available for sale.

I Hear a Singing Fish: The Music Under the Current Robert Fanning, an assistant professor of Creative Writing at Central Michigan University is a poet and the author of two full-length collections, The Seed Thieves and American Prophet. In this discussion, work-shop, and reading, Fanning will invite participants to plunge beneath the surface of Theodore Roethke's po-ems, down into the swirling currents and the musical muck his words make. Fanning's discussion is based on the belief that Roethke knew the road to the reader's mind and heart begins with their ear. Participants will read and discuss the technical effects of rhythm and rhyme in Roethke's poems (and others), as well as take part in a short writing activity. Following the discussion and workshop, Fanning will read from his own work, and sign copies of his books.

Melissa Seitz, SVSU poet and English professor, will talk about her book in process, a memoir about her mother, with mention of Roethke's Meditations to an Old Woman, written from the poet's mother's perspective. David McMacken is a retired literature and composition teacher from Alma High School with a background in journalism. David is also an author who will share his historic thoughts in a talk entitled: Into the Hinterland: Let's Go To Gratiot. He is a frequent speaker on topics of local history and spoke for 30 consecutive years in the Evening in the Park summer series in Gratiot County.
He has written six articles in Michigan History Magazine and published six books on local history. Some titles he'll have available for sale: Built on Pines: the biography of Ammi Wright, The Saratoga of the West, and
Colonel Elwell's Castle.
McMacken will be available to sign his books.

Candle Walk with collaboration between River Junction Poets and Friends of Theodore Roethke to commemorate poet's life on the day he died.
